Tehan pledges $1.45mil
STAGE one of the proposed redevelopment of Cobden Recreation Reserve was given a healthy $1.45 million boost last night.

Member for Wannon Dan Tehan made the funding announcement during a special visit to the reserve last night (Tuesday).
“A Liberal government will deliver year-round sporting access and inclusive changerooms by delivering stage one of the Cobden Recreation Reserve development in Cobden,” Mr Tehan said.
“I have secured this funding commitment to ensure local families, clubs and schools now have the chance to train and compete all year round in a safe, modern and inclusive community facility.”
Mr Tehan said he had received strong feedback from the Cobden community about the need for this redevelopment to improve facilities and support local sport.
“This project will give young athletes a fair go, boost women’s sport and deliver real benefits to families across our region.
“This commitment is part of the Liberals and Nationals’ plan to strengthen our local communities and get Australia back on track.”
At a well-attended public meeting at the reserve last Thursday night, concept plans for a multi-million-dollar upgrade of facilities at the reserve were displayed and discussed.
Members of the reserve’s committee of management have been working alongside the reserve’s user groups since around 2001 when the idea for a major upgrade was first mooted.
“After years of discussions and meetings we now have a concept plan,” committee members Wayne Robertson and James Green recently told the Cobden Timboon Coast Times.
“It’s by no means the final design; it’s just an idea of what the new pavilion and surrounds could look like in the near future.”
It has been envisaged the total project could cost anywhere up to around seven million dollars.
