Rev your motors and head to Cobden

REVHEADS and families alike will be well catered for in Cobden on Sunday.

Cobden Pioneer Park volunteers will host the first ever swap meet and motor show this weekend.

The motor show has been a staple on the local calendar for more than 20 years as part of the Cobden Spring Festival.

Cobden Pioneer Park volunteer Misty Angus said all involved are looking forward to Sunday.

“It’s the 26th annual motor show,” she said.

“Anything is welcome; if it has an engine it can go in the show.

“I’ve had fantastic interest in it.”

Car clubs from across the district will be attending the event this year, with last year’s iteration seeing more than 70 entries on display.

The fun will not stop there, with a swap meet also being organised.

“We also have market stalls, car boot stalls and all sorts of things to keep children entertained,” Mrs Angus said.

“It’s a really varied mix. There’s also a scavenger hunt for the kids.”

More than 20 stalls have been registered so far selling a variety of items.

Mrs Angus said she is looking forward to the day.

“We’ve done the swap meet because it was a suggestion from the community last year so we are giving it a go for the first time,” she said.

“The day is an annual fundraiser for the park to cover the costs for the year.”

The Cobden Racecourse Park will be open providing plenty for people to see and do on the day with the mini trains and mini golf in operation, as well as the South Western District Restoration Group and Cobden and District Historical Society opening their doors.

Entry is free to the swap meet and motor show.

The day will kick off at 10am and run through until 3pm in Grayland Street, Cobden.

Swap meet sites are $15 each and can be booked by contacting Misty Angust on 0490 141 982 or emailing cobdenpioneerpark@gmail.com.
