Junior Magpies soar

CAMPERDOWN Football Netball Club will once again be well represented across the junior grades for week two of Hampden League finals this weekend.


The club’s under 18 footballers, along with its 17 and under, 17 and under reserves, 13 and under, and 13 and under reserve netball sides all competed last weekend.

Three of the club’s five teams were successful.

In the under 18 football, Camperdown defeated Portland in a nail-biting elimination final, 5.8.38 to 5.6.36.

Best for the Magpies were Wilba Cheeseman, Daniel Ryan, Tom Baker, Charlie Kempton, Brock Stephens and Aidan Conheady.

ELIMINATION FINAL

The 17 and under netballers have progressed to the second semi-final after defeating South Warrnambool 31-27 in Saturday’s qualifier and will play Koroit tomorrow (Saturday).

The 17 and under reserves defeated Cobden 27-20 and will play Warrnambool on Sunday.

The finals series came to an end for the 13 and under netballers last weekend, defeated by Cobden 15-18.

While the 13 and under reserves lost to Hamilton 14-22, they will have a second chance this Sunday when they face Warrnambool.
