Are-able staff member Bec Huth presented the grant funds to committee members Delia and Colin Kerr and Judith Gribble.

Mrs Gribble said the money will be used to purchase furniture which will enable easier access for all members and visitors to use the historical centre’s resources.

“We greatly appreciate the support of are-able,” she said.

“The new equipment – a portable, high/low table with its own battery pack and two adjustable chairs – will accommodate all people wanting to carry out research at the hall as well as our volunteers doing their usual behind-the-scenes work.”

Ms Huth said are-able was pleased to assist because it was evident the society was doing a wonderful job to preserving Cobden and district history and meet its community’s increasing desire to know more about its past.

“The town’s welcome signs talk about ‘Cobden: Making History’ and that’s literally what the society is doing – researching, documenting and filing the history of the town,” she said.

The are-able organisation has been supporting communities for over three decades, driving positive change. Its core areas of expertise include employment services, training, education, NDIS programs, and social enterprises.
