Cooinda celebrates
COOINDA participants, family members and staff enjoyed their traditional Christmas event last week, capping off what has been a successful year for the provider.
Cooinda day program manager Sharon Lock said the day was an opportunity for all involved with the program to celebrate.
“We host the event each year for participants, their family and friends,” she said.
“Each year we get together at Cobden Miniature Railway and enjoy an evening with rides, we have a DJ for music and karaoke, we cook a barbecue dinner and we even have Timboon Ice Cream come along with their mobile ice-cream truck.
“Santa also comes along with gifts.”
Each year the event draws around 80 people, providing not only an opportunity to celebrate the year but also to build social connections ahead of the new year.
“It’s always well patronaged,” Ms Lock said.
“It is a good opportunity to wind down, with some social interaction, dancing and of course rides on the miniature railway.”
