Owners of classic cars and motorbikes took the opportunity last Sunday to visit Fairway Coffee and Eatery to show off their vehicles and talk among like-minded people and interested residents.

Organiser Alan Knott said the idea was a way for people to take their old vehicles out of their garages and share them with others over breakfast.

“We’re going to run it every Sunday at the end of the month, and just try and build on it from that,” he said.

“Next month on August 25, they’re going to have a country and western singer.

“It’s just something for some blokes to have a chat and a coffee and relax.

“It’s only just in the morning from 10am to 12noon.

Come out for a little while, and then enjoy the rest of the day or go for a drive.”

Mr Knott said there were no other activities for the meetings – it is simply a chance for people to come together and chat.

“It’s just small at the moment – we’ll see if it builds from there,” he said.

“We take any cars. It doesn’t matter what it is – whether it’s a hot rod or a Jeep, and bikes too.

“That’s what we’re about.

“I invite anyone who might be interested to come down and have a browse and a chat.”

Mr Knott said he hoped the event brings people together.

“It’s just a chance for everyone to get out – that’s all it is,” he said.

“Enjoy a couple of hours, then go for a drive or head back home and do whatever they have to do.

“You can sit in there if it’s cold, and people stand around and talk and get to know one another.”
