Close to 40 people were in attendance which included between 15 and 20 children.

LLPG facilitator Sarah McMaster said the night began with an activity for children run by Tania Maloney from the Nature Bus to pass time until sundown.

“She got the kids to collect some sticks, branches and what-not and make a little story on the ground with it, and they then presented their stories which was really fun,” she said,

“We all had a barbecue, chatted around the fire, and then we all got our torches and headed off down along the trail to the farm dam to have a look to see if there were any animals around.

“Then we came back, and we roasted up some marshmallows around the fire.

“It was a good night. Everyone loved it.”

During the walk, attendees could hear the calls of frogs living in the area and saw swans flying above them as they explored around a lake.

Ms McMaster said many families were in attendance, including grandparents with their grandchildren.

“People travelled a fair way – people from Colac, Leslie Manor, all those areas – they really enjoyed it,” she said.

“They messaged me afterwards saying they had a great time.

“The kids loved it – they didn’t want to leave.

“Everyone really enjoyed it – they love it every year.

“They want to keep coming along.”

Ms McMaster extended her gratitude to Ms Maloney for providing the activity at the night stalk, which was proven to be a hit with the children.
