A dry end to winter
CAMPERDOWN, Derrinallum and Lismore saw a drier-than-average end to winter this year, with rainfall also totaling less than the previous year.
Camperdown saw 45.1mm of rainfall over the month of August, which is less than the 51.1mm which fell during the same time period.
The figure also falls below the long-term monthly average of 90.8mm.
The highest daily rainfall was recorded on August 21, where 7mm hit the ground.
To date, Camperdown has seen 322.6mm of rainfall for 2024.
In Derrinallum, 31mm of rainfall was recorded across the month.
The figure falls below last August’s total of 34.4mm, as well as the long-term monthly average of 72.1mm.
August 17 saw Derrinallum’s highest daily rainfall for the month, with 6.8mm of rainfall recorded in 24 hours.
Derrinallum’s total rainfall for 2024 currently sits at 235.2mm
Meanwhile, Lismore recorded 31mm of rainfall across the month of August.
The figure is below the long-term monthly average of 67.6mm.
However, the figure is also more than last year’s total of 27mm for the month.
Lismore’s highest daily rainfall was recorded on August 26, with 7.2mm hitting the ground.
Lismore’s 2024 rainfall total currently sits at 218.3mm.
